United States Senate

185 Dirksen Senate Office Building

Washington, DC 20510

Dear Thom Tillis,

We write this letter to you as a group of citizens concerned for the environment. It is our belief
that the only way the United States will start going towards a more green energy level is to
implement a carbon/emission tax. We are aware that it is your duty to keep taxes low.
Implementing an emission tax might seem like an excuse to tax the American citizens even more,
but we could cut taxes in other areas. American citizens dont have the time to change every
aspect of their lives, so its up to you to change the world they live in.

This issue is important because we have to look at the facts: ice is melting, sea levels are rising,
places are flooding, the temperature is rising. We need to take action before it's too late. The end
of many species and the environment will come faster than we know it if we do not take action.
This is an alarming message because we have no time to waste. Please take this into consideration
before making any decisions about carbon/emission tax.

As we continue to ignore the consequences of releasing harmful emission into our atmosphere such
as carbon, methane, fossil fuels, etc. trapping solar energy into the atmosphere. We are increasing
global temperature and creating more environmental damages. Just this year we witness new
records of the hottest temperature, more forest fires, rising sea levels, encountered horrific
hurricanes affecting multiple states, and we will continue to face even more issues if we do not
take action. Emissions such as carbon not only affect the environment, but millions of peoples
health. Food supply will be in danger as the conditions of our crops depletes, pollutants will
eventually wash into drinking water supplies, and harmful air are just a few examples of such
consequence. We must not be consumed by cheap energy and the money that is gained. Please
take in the consideration of the lives of the millions of the future generations to come. We must
leave this place better than when we found it.

With much care,
