Goal #1: Clearly Communicate Learning and Progress to Students

can better understand their progress and set personal goals is through teacher
Rationale
feedback. Communication between the teacher and the students and their parents is
essential for student success and growth.

assignment comments, goal setting notes and one-on-one discussions with
Strategies students.

checklists, surveys, and goal-setting.
Indicator of Give students constructive verbal or written feedback a minimum of once every two

Timeline September to December
Goal #2: Differentiate Learning in the Classroom
My grade 8/9 FSL class consists of language learners of all levels, from those who have
had no contact with the language to those who have been studying it since grade 4.
Rationale The difference in language levels can make it hard for beginners to feel confident and
like they understand content, while the advance learners may not feel like they are
being challenged enough.
Create 3 classroom activities and 2 projects that can be differentiated to build
confidence in beginner learners and challenge advanced learners.
Give students a survey once a month to gain feedback and a better
Strategies
understanding of their learning styles and needs, as well as to identify areas
of growth.
Use formative and summative assessment to gauge student needs.
Indicator of The completion of 3 differentiated classroom activities and 2 differentiated projects in
Achievement the FSL classroom, complete with reflections on how they went.
