For this lab we were asked to plot a quadratic model of a Zero Gravity airplane
simulation going up into the air and then back down. We were given the time and height
of the simulations and used quadratic formulas to find the maximum height of the
rocket and plot the shape of the flight on a graph.
This type of problem is used often in the real world especially for companies like
NASA who launch rockets and airplanes often. It is extremely useful and even critical for
them to use these methods to plan safe and well orchestrated flights.
Quadratic models can also be used for businesses to find out what their
maximum profit would be considering total revenue and cost of production.
This assignment was useful in showing how what we learned in class is used in
real world situations. Without using these methods businesses would not be able to
determine their maximum profits, engineers would not be able to precisely plan
airplane and rocket flights, and many other professions would not be able to determine
maximum values needed to do their jobs. I definitely think that this will be used in my
life again sometime.
