Trisha Prabhu is a 14-year-old student at Neuqua Valley High School in
Naperville, Illinois. From a young age, she has been fascinated with the
inner workings of the brain. In 2013, Trisha heard about young girls suicide
due to bullying on the Internet and set out to find a long-term solution to
cyber-bullying.

Her research led her to create the product Rethink, which won her a spot
as a Google Science Fair 2014 Global Finalist. Rethink gives adolescents
who are trying to post an offensive message on social media a second
chance to reconsider their decision. Her product idea also won first prize at
the PowerPitch Competition at 1871, Chicagos technology and
entrepreneurial hub. Rethink has been covered on Business Insider,
International Business Times, Huffington Post and several other media
outlets. She currently holds a Provisional Patent with the United States
Patent and Trademark Office for Rethink.

Prior to her Rethink project, Trisha researched the brains role in the
cognitive distraction that causes distracted driving. She won a Gold Medal
Award from the Illinois Junior Academy of Science for her work. She is an
advocate of STEM in education and believes that technology is the future
of tomorrow. She has spoken at education and technology conferences in
the Chicago area.

From the day her 13-year-old daughter, Megan, took her own life following
a brutal cyberbullying attack, Meier has passionately shared Megans story,
transforming awareness into action and creating systemic change. Adults,

Meier is Founder and Executive Director of the Megan Meier Foundation.


She travels throughout the country as a keynote speaker on bullying and
cyberbullying, addressing students, educators, administrators, parents,
youth rallies, counselors, law enforcement, and other professionals.

Cyber Bullying:

The definition of bullying according to the Merriam Webster dictionary is


abuse and mistreatment of someone vulnerable by someone stronger, more powerful. Now
add social media to that and you no longer have just one person picking on someone you have
an entire group. A group of people who believe it or not aren't strong or powerful in the fact that
they are hiding behind a cell phone or computer screen but their words are strong and powerful
because those cruel words are mentally, physically and emotionally hurting that person.

Kids between the ages of 9 and 18 experience cyberbullying more then any other age. This isn't
just in America this is across the world. In this article they studying how cyberbullying effected

They found that cyberbullying in adolescents is a serious global problem. One of the major
reasons is because of how addicted we as not just a culture but as human beings have become
addicted to social media. It is extremely rare to find people without some form of social media.

Adolescents health is at risk due to cyber bullying. In this article they studied kids from 13
different countries to see the effect cyber bullying would have on their health. They found that it
causes many serious and harmful diseases to the kids that were being cyberbullying. They also
found that different forms of social media effected the kids differently as well. For instance being
bulled on online effected them differently then being bullied thru a text message.
