% alcohol lab

Abstract: The average % alcohol found in the vodka used was 36.95 +/- 1.819% alcohol the advertised %

alcohol is 35% by volume.

Purpose: The purpose of this lab was to determine the actual % alcohol in a given brand of drink.

Procedure: Pg 82-84

Discussion: There were many steps in this lab that could account for small errors, while each individual

error may only slightly affect the outcome these errors added up lead to a greater disparity between the

actual and experimental values. Looking at each of the final titrations these errors can be seen, as for 5

of the final calculated % alcohols were off by at least 2% while the other values were closer seeing as

little as .8% difference between advertised and calculated % alcohol. As with all titrations error is also

introduced with interpretation of color.
