Shannon Call
Alpine School District
575 N 100 E
American Fork Utah 84003

To Whom It May Concern,

As a mathematics education major, I am interested in promoting education and increasing mathematical

understanding within students and the community. Scott Hendrickson, a professor at Brigham Young
University, encouraged me to apply to Alpine School District. Based on the Alpine School District mission
statement, vision, and values, I feel that I could add to your community specifically working with
mathematics and athletics.

Last summer I taught English in the Dominican Republic. I lived in the same community as my students and
embraced their culture. I learned how to be patient with language barriers and cultural differences, and how
to embrace love and gratitude in the classroom. My semester in the Dominican Republic taught me how to
discipline students in ways that promote learning. This semester I am serving on the Mathematics Education
Association Board. We plan and prepare activities and events for the mathematics education faculty and
students to promote effective mathematics teaching. I have learned more about the education community
and have become an active participant the mathematics education community.

Thank you for your time and thoughtful consideration. My enclosed resume gives an overview of the results
Ive previously obtained using my skills, abilities, and knowledge. I hope to be selected for an interview for
this position so I might share in person my enthusiasm about your company and the ways in which I feel I
can contribute to your continued success. If you have questions before then please feel free to contact me by
phone or email. I look forward to meeting you

Sincerely,

Shannon Call
