READ 3226 Reflection

Overall, I think that this lesson was extremely successful. Integrating literacy and social

studies worked to my advantage because it was a reading lesson that the students were not used

to. The entire class was excited to participate, which resulted in a meaningful classroom

discussion. The only thing that I would change about this lesson is how the students create their

groups final product. Instead of the printed worksheet that I provided, I would have students

write their own Classroom Constitution on chart paper to display around the classroom.

For future lessons, I would like to be prepared with more materials for students to make

their final product so that they could be more creative. But the students in this class still seemed

to enjoy completing this activity with the worksheet. I think that this change would give students

more ownership over their work and give them an opportunity to relate what they had just read

and learned to themselves and their classroom.
