In our Winogradsky column, we got a 2 liter bottle and cut off the top then
mixed dirt,chalk,water, scraps of paper to create a bacteria living environment.
By the second or third week, condensation was on the plastic wrap, the smell
was beginning to be a sewer stench and you could see the bacteria layers in
the soil, and a very thin line of film covered the top of the water.
Week five started to show very little crust formations all around the sides,also
condensation was appearing a lot and the stench of the column had gotten
worse to more of a sewer smell.
