Perspectives on personality 1 © Vicos and virtues: A sketchy sampler - A sampler isa collection of typical examples of something. This one is sketchy for two reasons: first, as the word suggests, the sampler is incomplete and not very detailed (more vices and virtues could be added to each section); and, secondly, itis ~ quite literally - accompanied by sketches (or drawings). Why have sketches? Experts claim that they are great mnemonic devices (or memory aids). The more mental associations you have with a word, the more likely you are to remember it. Using a sketch to create a strong mental image of a word is just one way for you to form a memorable association. 4. VICES — Study the definitions.
