Course Description
:
This
course
provides the
analytical material covered in

Mechanics of Materials and Engineering of Materials.

Experiments involving tension test, verification of stress-strain

diagram, ultimate strength, torsion test, determination of

Modulus of shear, displacement tests of beam determination of

Modulus of elasticity of beam, material sample preparation, heat

treatment, and observation of material structure.

Course Objectives
:
1) To
define
and explain
the principles related to the

experiment involving Tensile Test, Torsion Test, Bending Test, Buckling Test, Hardness Test,
Thin Cylinder, Impact Test and Microstructure Analysis

Perform and obtain raw data for experiments involving Tensile Test, Torsion Test, Bending Test,
Buckling Test, Hardness Test, Thin Cylinder, Impact Test and Microstructure Analysis following
the manual.

Calculate the raw data and analyse in graph form where applicable. Discuss and conclude the
results obtained. Search and identify references related to the experiments. Produce
