SUMMARY OF DESIGN RESULT, CONCLUSION AND RECOMMENDATION

This chapter presents the summary of design result, conclusion and

recommendation of the study.

Summary of Design Result

Based on the results of the analysis and interpretation, the following were hereby

summarized:

1. The prototype of Hunyango: a smart window blinds and lighting system for

lecture rooms controlled by graphical user interface (GUI) was constructed out of locally

available materials and designed using MIT App Inventor.

2. With regards to the acceptability of the Hunyango: a smart window blinds and

lighting system for lecture rooms controlled by graphical user interface (GUI), it was

found out that in terms of applicability, accuracy, user-friendliness, workability, and

safety and maintenance of the system, the device obtained an average weighted mean

of 4.57 that was verbally interpreted as very much acceptable.

Conclusion

The following conclusions were drawn based on the summary of design result:

1. The prototype of Hunyango: a smart window blinds and lighting system for

lecture rooms controlled by graphical user interface (GUI) was constructed out of locally

available materials and designed using MIT App Inventor.

2. The Hunyango: a smart window blinds and lighting system for lecture rooms

controlled by graphical user interface (GUI) is found to be very much acceptable and

satisfying the desire of the end-user as evaluated by respective respondents

Recommendation

Based on the results of the study, the researchers came up with the following

recommendations:

1. The Hunyango: a smart window blinds and lighting system for lecture rooms

controlled by graphical user interface (GUI) is recommended to include security as part

of the upgrade in order for the system to actuate only when the room users are inside.

2. Aside from turning on or off the artificial lights, dimming the lights can be used

to provide more accurate luminance inside the lecture rooms.

3. Further modification for the improvement of the device such as Solar-powered

battery or Uninterrupted Power Supply (UPS) that can store power for a longer period of

time and other features are highly recommended. This will ensure that in times of power

interruption, the system will still respond to the user’s and environment’s commands.
