3. Countries that are called Third World vary dependently during time periods. In the Cold War,
Third World countries refer to countries that are unaffiliated with the NATO nor with the
Communist Bloc. Today, the term Third World refers to countries which are developing in
economic capability. Countries that are referred to as Third World during the Cold War
includes; states of the African Continent, Middle East (Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Syria, Iraq, Yemen,
Qatar, Bahrain, Libya, Jordan, Lebanon, Kuwait, etc.), South Asian countries (India, Pakistan,
Bangladesh, Nepal), Southeast Asian countries (Philippines, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore,
Thailand, Cambodia), and Latin America countries.
