URBAN RENEWAL

INTRODUCTION:

The urban renewal brought with it gentrification which was unfortunate for the residence who
could not afford the new rent prices.

The process where an urban neighborhood or area is improved and rehabilitated.

GOALS:

To achieve better utilization of land in the dilapidated urban areas to meet various development needs.

OBJECTIVES:

To access the social political,financial,ecomical and environmental costs and benefits of

redevelopment.

SELECTEDURBAN AREA:

MADURAI.

Madurai is divided into 4 zones which comprises various words.

SELECTED ZONE: zone 2 ( ward no:24 to 49)

JUSTIFICATION:

Zone-2 consists of many important hubs in Madurai city.
