Mx+B Sealing ‘Mx+B isa calculation tha can be appli toa channel to scale a measurement value. This {ature is usefl in applications where an input measurement needs to be converted to 8 different unit or vais to snmate an output. Common scaling conversions are ‘Scaling of a milliamp output of a pressure transducer tothe equivalent kPa or psi value. ‘Scaling of temperature reading from degrees Celsius to kelvin. * Conversion of shunt resistor voltage to eurent in amperes. To calculate Mx*B, the "MI" value is referred to as the “gain” and i used as a multiplier ‘of the actual eading. Aer the gain i calculated, the "B" value or the “oflset” is added to the resultant. For example, if channel measures a voltage of 3 volts and the gain was sett 3.3, the measurement onthe display would read 99 wots (3 V * 3.3 gain ~ 99 V). Naw the offset is added to the gain. the offset was Sct to 11.0, it would be added to the 99 volts and the display would read 20.9 volts (9.9 V * 11,0 offset = 2009 V) More examples: (6.9 gain * 20 mA) + 16.0 offset 154 kPa (0 gain * 25,0 °C) + 273.15 oflset = 298.15 K. (1000 gain © 032 V) + 00 offeet= 3.2.0
