Conclusions and Analysis: Indirect Measurement Project 

1.  Compile all of the data for all of the Research and Experimentation Classes in 9th grade. 

2. Carefully construct a box plot of that data using a computer to generate that boxplot (several online 
tools exist for this). 

3. Label the values at the quartiles. 

4. Write one paragraph that discusses the results. What kinds of trends did you see in the data? Are 
there outliers, and what are they.  If there are outliers, discuss how you know they are outliers. 

5.  Assume that the median of the data is the correct answer, quantify the accuracy of your group's 
result as well as the trends within the data.   

6. Discuss your group’s successes or challenges.  In particular, discuss possible sources of error.   Suggest 
some ideas of how your project could have been more accurate and easy to use. 

Be sure to write in complete sentences and organize those sentences into coherent paragraphs. Your 
assignment should include your name, date, period and block. In your title block,  list the names of the 
others in your group. Your document must be 12 point, Times New Roman, 1 inch margins, double 
spacing and contain at least 1.5 full pages of text.
