Case Incident 15th edition

1. Many managers are finding it difficult to get away from their job. Long working hours and
heavy workload are causing jobs dissatisfaction.
2. Job satisfaction is the main concept in this case study. Job satisfaction is associated with
increased productivity and organizational effectiveness. Job satisfaction has also been found to
reduce negative behaviors as tardiness, absenteeism and turnover. Job satisfaction increases
retention and the ability to perform at higher levels. Some individuals though, seem to be
inclined to be positive or negative about many things regardless of job or position. Strong
organizational support and employee engagement are also key factors in building job
satisfaction.
3. Being able to take decisions that affect the bottom line of the company, interactions with
influential people, being looked upon by junior staff are my goals for this situation.
4. We have to have a dedicated person that fits the job description. We have to find a right fit of
a committed employee and a job that challenges them and takes advantage of their skills and
interests. This is the principle difficulty of recruiting. Just having the right education and
background doesn’t mean that one can be successful in a particular job.
5. I think employees want to balance work with the rest of the activities they wish to pursue in
life. Work balance is especially important to your millennial employees who are used to
cramming their days with diverse activities and hours of electronic communication. I think
management can expect employees to work hard, work long hours, and weekends, but not all of
the time. It’s okay to expect employees to work long, hard hours during the push for a timely
product release, but should not neglect their overall happiness.
