All MCPS students and staff are invited to participate in SERT’s 2018 energy conservation and recycling awareness poster contest! All environmental issues are related to energy 7 air or waterquality, global climate change, waste management, and transportation, With most of al pollution coming from producing, consuming and distributing energy, this is an incentive to cut energy waste. This poster contest gives you the chance to show other Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) students how to use less energy and make wise energy choices! Despite what you might think, each of us can make a great impact, on the earth by RECYCLING responsibly. Remember to recycle your paper, glass, aluminum and plastic. Shop with reusable grocery bags, drink from reusable containers, print on both sides of paper, and share hand-me-downs, etc. When we live responsibly, people around us will follow our example. Share your ideas to encourage others to reduce waste and increase recycling. Lets help make MCPS a greener place to learn! Students and staff members should submit creative posters that demonstrate the importance of conserving energy and recycling, One winner will be selected from five categories: K:2, Grades 3-5, Grades 68, grades 9-12, and staff. Entries will be judged by MCPS staff. Winning posters may be used in future MCPS and local government educational and promotional campaigns. The goal of SERT's annual Watts Up? poster contest isto raise awareness about the importance of energy conservation and responsible recycling. This year’s theme is SERT In Our School. Show everyone what your school does to be “green” AIIMCPS elementary, middle and high school students and staff are eligible to enter the Watts Up? contest Posters must encourage others to conserve energy and recycle responsibly. Art must be the original work of a student or staff member and must not contain any copyrighted elements, Artwork should be work the atist has created alone, Posters should be no smaller than 8.5" x 11” and must not exceed 18"x 24" in All entries must be accompanied by the official 2018 poster contest entry form, which can be found on our website, www.GreenSchools.Focus.org. Student entry forms must be approved and signed by the student's parent/guardian and school principal. Staff entries do not require approval. Three entries per grade level per school will be accepted. Schools are asked to hold preliminary competitions and submit the best three entries to SEAT. ‘Student and staff entries may be mailed to SERT via Pony or first class mail, or delivered by hand. Entries must be delivered on or before April 17, 2018to: Watts Up? Contest (DFM-SERT), Montgomery County Public Schools 45 West Gude Drive, Suite 4000, Rockville, MD 20850 Upon submission, entries become property of MCPS and will not be returned. The SERT program will not be responsible for lost or damaged artwork. ‘Artwork and artist information may be used by MCPS and/or Montgomery County Government in public awareness campaigns. Entries wll go through two rounds of judging. Entries that pass the initial evaluation will then be judged online and in person by MCPS staff. AIL MCPS staff will be invited to participate in the final round of online judging. Details for the online poll will be sent to schools along with instructions for judging the entries. MCPS Google login will be required to judge online. Contest winners will be announced before the school year ends. Certificates will be awarded to the winning artists.
