CARNIVAL IN RIO

Without a doubt, the most famous event of the year is the Carnival of Rio de Janeiro,
one of the largest shows in America and one of the greatest manifestations of the
Carioca culture, which fills the streets of the city with music and color for a Week and
that has its culminating in the spectacular parade of the Schools of Samba that takes
place in the Sambódromo.

(Ipanema, 1996). Say. “The first records of Carnival festivities in Rio de Janeiro date
back to 1723. The idea was basically getting everybody soaked wet. People would go
out in the streets with buckets of water and limes, and anyone could be a potential
victim. The Carnaval Samba Parade is considered by many people the greatest show on
earth. We do not disagree. It happens on Carnaval Sunday and Monday at Sambódromo,
before this was launched in 1984, the Samba Parade happened in the street. Now the
iconic structure accommodates over 80k spectators a night”

(Anderson, 2012). Say. “Rio de Janeiro has one of the most well-known Carnival
celebrations. It features more than 100 block parades, many of which are supported by
the students and staff of the city's samba schools. “Rio's Carnival is heavily influenced
by the favelas, the poorest neighborhoods in the city. Favelas residents are often
members of local samba schools and participate extensively in group performances
