Site down/Failures:

Site can be down due to:

1.Power Outage

2.Transmission problems: Heavy rain fall can affect the microwave link

Faulty microwave link equipments.

2.Fibre cut: when there is issue with fibre cables.

Function of FO personnel:

1. Escalate site down to FME/FSO( Field Maintenance Engineer/Field Support Engineer)

2. Get reasons for the failures/Site down
3. Open TT(Ticket) using OWS(Operations Web Service) for any failure on the Network.
4. Call the FMEs for closure of the TT when the issue is resolved and close the Ticket when issue is
confirmed Resolved.

Facts:

Huawei is handling Operations for MTN Nation wide.

Operations is divided into 2:

1. Passive : All activities that deals with Power and its equipments
2. Active: All activities that deals with RF / Transmission and their equipments.

There are BSCs controlling Sites, these BSCs are under Regions.
