JOB INTERVIEW

1. DEFINITION OF JOB INTERVIEW


The job interview is a face to face meeting between an applicant and an employer,
which is conducted to assess whether the applicant should be hired. It is generally the
last and most important step in the job-seeking process.

2. PURPOSE OF JOB INTERVIEW


 An interview conducted by a company has a goal for the employer :
To find out the personality of the applicant
To find out the performance of the applicant
To discuss about job experience, training, job applicant education with
the employer.
To find out behaviour of the applicant
To know how the applicant speak and eye contact
 An interview conducted by a company has a goal for the applicant :
To show the personality that applicant had
To show the skill and job experience that the applicant had
To tell about education history of the applicant
To help the applicant to choose the job or not
To get more information about the company that you choose
3. TIPS TO HAVE A SUCCESFUL JOB INTERVIEW
a. Practice good nonverbal communication, for example making eye contact and
connecting with a firm handshake.
b. Conduct Research on the Employer, Hiring Manager, and Job Opportunity.
c. Review Common Interview Questions and Prepare Your Responses.
d. Use suitable clothes (neat, good and proper).
e. Arrive on Time, Relaxed and Prepared for the Interview
f. Make Good First Impressions. For example Make a strong first impression by
dressing well, arriving early, and when greeting your interviewer, stand, smile,
make eye contact, and offer a firm but not bone-crushing handshake.
g. Be Authentic, Upbeat, Focused, Confident, Candid, and Concise
h. Remember the Importance of Body Language. Effective forms of body
language include smiling, eye contact, solid posture, active listening, and
nodding. Detrimental forms of body language include slouching, looking off
in the distance, playing with a pen, fidgeting in a chair, brushing back your
hair, touching your face, chewing gum, or mumbling.
i. Don't be cocky

k. Don't appear desperate
l. Write down and practice at least three questions to ask the interviewer,
showing how much you care about this kind to work.
m. Leave your calculator and gum at home. If you absolutely need to bring your
cell phone, make sure it's completely powered off before you go into the
interview.
n. Sell yourself. What are your unique selling points and how can you match
your highlights to what they want? Make sure you use plenty of examples as
proof of your abilities.
o. Practice, practice, practice. It's one thing to come prepared with a mental
answer to a question.
