Headings Description:
‘Education’ Head:
0 The content should be in tabular form Only
0 The first column of the year should be ‘year’ information
oThe content in the table should be in reverse
chronological order
Any ‘Achievements’ or ‘Activities’:
o Definitely mention the year of Activity or Achievement.
‘Internships’ or ‘Work Experience’:
o Write proper date (or, Month) of start and end of the
experience as mentioned in the certificate or reference
provided to you.
‘Positions of Responsibility’:
o Please write authentic figures Only as per communicated
by the Festival Coordinator or Festival Report or any other
valid authority or documentRESUME GUIDELINES
Common Mistakes:
1) No Specifics:
It's all about the numbers. Define/ascertain the metrics for each experience
and then provide for the specific outcomes or quantitative and measurable
impact.
2) Not action-oriented:
No one is interested in just knowing what happened at the cultural event or
the NGO you were a part of. They want to know a lot more than that.
3) Overused words:
Make sure you are not overusing words like “Won”, “Participated in”,
“Concluded”, “Executed”, “The”, “Their” etc. There are 8537 verbs in the
English dictionary, make sure you find your unique set!
4) Using Avoided Words:
Don’t use generally avoided words like ‘such as’, ‘which’, etc. Such words
are avoided words for a reason.
5) Missing crucial sections:
For instance, don’t put your leadership experiences under ‘Awards and
Achievements’ or ‘Extra-curricular record’, instead create a separate section
named ‘Positions of Responsibility’ and add it there.
6) Spelling Error:
Please spell check your resume multiple times.
7) Missing out on substantiating as well as showcasing your
Soft Skills:
Make sure you are showcasing the most important soft skills, based on
recruiter criteria. Some of them being, Teamwork, Initiative, Analytical, etc.
8) Using Paragraphs:
It’s true that your resume is the Story of your professional lives, but don’t
take that so seriously and actually write it like one.Adobe

RESEARCH INTERN
NATURE OF WORK
The interns are divided into teams of 3 each with one
Mentor(Senior Researcher) being assigned to them.
Along with this a broad area of exploration is allotted to
each team. The team then goes into extensively studying
this field and digging up any problems and scope of
improvement that may be possible. This is followed by
formulating in clear terms their problem statement and
then comes the solution which is the most interesting
part. The final objective is to come up with a fully
functioning prototype of your solution and presenting it
to Adobe's senior management. Needless to say, this
rigorous process leaves interns with multiple patents
and papers at the end.
TEST
Online test covering topics like Algorithms,
Basic ML, Maths. Fairly easy questions, (I feel
they did not give much important to test
results but still) You also have one question
asking about your views on some recent
technology area. Try answering it well.
INTERVIEW
Telephonic Interview (15 min to 1 hour)
QUESTIONS ASKED
Hobbies, Aims, Discussion on projects, Fields on
interest. If the researcher is interested, you may have a
lengthy discussion. This is where your project and
research experience will really help. Followed by
questions on Algorithms, puzzles, Probablility, Algebra.
The interview for most is fairly short with just 2-3 q's
being asked and lasting only 15 min. Depends on the
Researcher taking your interview.
ADDITIONAL TIPS
Have a sound knowledge of stuff written in your
resume. Your projects must reflect a good
understanding of the pertinent fields. Be prepared for
any amount of discussion. Practice Algorithms, puzzles,
and prob stats. Nothing tough is asked since it is
telephonic but it's better to be prepared.

AMAZON DEVELOPMENT CENTRE, INDIA
SOFTWARE DEVELOPMENT ENGINEER INTERN
NATURE OF WORK
SDE Interns work alongwith full-time SDEs to deliver projects
which are used directly into production. Amazon still follows
the startup culture. Teams are small and given full ownership
for their services. Also, one is the owner of one's software
product, having full independence to design and develop its
code and come up with what seems best to you. 2 months
interns have a high learning rate and are expected to adapt to
fast delivering of their products(i.e. one has to deliver its
product/software/code in those 2 months itself). Projects
maybe backend or frontend, and are assigned in a manner
where you can demonstrate many data-points including your
coding skills, problem solving assessment, use of appropriate
data structures, ownership & leadership skills as well. Also,
don't get dissuaded with any fancy terms that I might have
used. No one gets acquainted to them without being there
itself.
TEST
Online test covering topics like Data Structures &
Algorithms. Minor topics: Probability, Quant, Linear
Algebra. Its main motive was to test coding style of the
candidate, alongwith fundamentals of computing.
Questions included coding of Dynamic Programming
Problems & Linked Lists.
INTERVIEW
2 Technical Rounds (About 1 hour each)
ROUND 1
Usually 2-4 standard questions on Basic Algorithms. This
round is to analyze the problem solving technique of the
candiadate, rather than what a student has read already.
Questions are simple yet require a fresh thought or
approach. Candidates are required to write a pseudo
code and demonstrate its accuracy/aptness.
ROUND 2
Around 5-6 problems to judge the use of right data
structure in the problem. A single problem may be asked
to be implemented in several ways, each using different
data structure. The catch is to see how calm you are
even when things are going complicated and messy.
This round ensures that a candidate doesn't gets
frustated when he goes in the wrong direction.

SUPPLY CHAIN , R&D
NATURE OF WORK
Supply chain intern: Most of the projects are on the shopfloor
and the factory lines wherein you see engineering for yourself
and are thrown up a challenge to optimize certain parts of
that very flow unit. A few folks get a chance to do projects in

LINKEDIN INDIA
SOFTWARE ENGINEER
NATURE OF WORK
The interns are mostly provided with their own
projects that they have to work on from scratch.
A mentor is assigned to assist them. The projects
have real life application as most of them are
further developed by the people in the company
and used either internally or as products that
LinkedIn provide its customers. The interns have
the liberty to decide on all aspects of the project
after discussing with the mentor on feasi
and efficiency, some of which are design,
timelines, coding platforms and
languages/frameworks to be used. Some interns
might have to work on an existing product but
then also those are such which give them an end
to end idea of the work.
TEST
Online test having 3 questions, to be
done in 120 min, based on Data
Structures and Algorithms. Questions
are of General competitive coding and
are of average difficulty.
INTERVIEW
TELEPHONIC INTERVIEW (about 90 min)
QUESTIONS ASKED
2 questions on algorithms which were to
be coded on a platform that was shared
between the candidate and the
interviewers, had to first explain the
approach to solving the question and
then write pseudo code.

NATURE OF WORK
Out of the multiple sections above the intern would
be assigned a particular sections on the basis of their
department and terest and then the internship
would focus on giving an introduction to that
particular section. Sections would range from the
basic knowledge of courses of your department.
Their basic aim is to set a platform to build on if you
further join them.
INTERVIEW
1 ROUND (About 25 minutes each)
Includes HR and Technical Questions
QUESTIONS ASKED
The interview would mostly have non technical
questions with the technical part being just the
description of your projects. Rest of the
interview would be basically to judge the
candidate's capabilities to adapt to new culture.
Japanese work culture and living style is very
different from that of India and most of the
people hesitate to accept the job offer after the
internship. The interview would be a way for
them to judge whether or not you would be
willing to work for them in future.
ADDITIONAL TIPS
The work there in the company won't be very difficult
and anyone having a basic technical background
would be able to do the job. Its just how well you
convince them about your adaptability. Talk to the
seniors who've worked there or who've gone for
internships there. They would be able to convey to
you about the work culture in Japan. Also if you have
interest in Japanese or Animes then you can opt for
the language course offered at IITK. That would surely
provide you an upper hand. And even if you don't
have all the technical and cultural knowledge your
enthusiasm would pass you through.
