1. Discuss various fiber spinning process

우선 fiber를 만들고자 하는 polymer가 solvent에 녹아있는 경우 이 solvent로부터 polymer를 추

출해내야 합니다. 이런 경우 solvent가 증발이 잘 안되는 경우는 polymer와 solvent를 wet bath에
통과 시켜 solvent와 polymer를 분리하는 wet spinning을, solvent가 증발이 잘 되는 경우는 공기
중에서 solvent를 증발시키는 dry spinning을 사용합니다. 그리고 solvent를 증발시킬 필요가 없는
경우는 교과서에 나와있는 melt spinning을 하게 됩니다.

2. Discuss the forming process of BOPP film

BOPP(Biaxially oriented polypropylene)은 수직, 수평축으로 연신한 PP film으로 방향 구조로 인해

기계적 특징과 barrier 특징이 좋고 투명하게 됩니다. 이 film을 만드는 공정은 우선 PP를 film형
태로 압출 한 후 longitudinal한 방향으로 strain을 합니다. 그 다음 annealing과 cooling을 한 후
다시 heating을 하고 transverse한 방향으로 strain 하고 다시 annealing과 cooling을 해 film을 완
성합니다. 이후 원하는 물체 표면에 vacuum forming 등의 방법으로 전사해서 제품으로 완성합니
다.

3. Discuss the film blowing process of LDPE

LDPE를 single screw extruder를 통해 녹이고 tubular die까지 운반합니다. 그 후 공기가 die의 정
가운데로 뿜어질 수 있도록 해 die를 통해 나오는 LDPE가 모든 방향으로 팽창할 수 있도록 합니
다. 이때 blowing 이후로 충분히 식을 수 있도록 blow된 film을 nip roll로 모으기 전까지 충분한
공간을 두어야 합니다. 이후 guiding section을 지나 nip roll로 blow된 film을 모으고 롤 형태로
말아 출고 합니다.

4. In a soda bottle prepared by blow molding, how does the degree of crystallinity in
screw-top region compare to the degree of crystallinity in the wall? Explain.

Screw-top의 경우는 wall과 달리 blowing 과정을 겪지 않고 단순히 injection으로 만들어집니다.

즉, screw-top은 wall이 겪는 팽창으로 인한 결정의 깨짐을 겪지 않으므로 wall 보다 degree of
crystallinity가 더 높습니다.
