Raindance Film Festival have a wide range of different categories for entry.
To be considered for entry you must produce an original production from a
genre and style of your choice.
1. Upload the brief to U6 Visual Production tab. From this brief, you must
cut and paste the important elements from it onto your website and
annotate them. Highlight areas of importance and write up exactly
what you believe the brief is asking you to do / produce with deadline
dates.
2. Create your own brief – now you understand what the requirements
are, you need to write your own brief. This must look professional and
have the UAL and Vibe Productions logo on it. It must also have
illustrations of your genre on it. The brief must include:
• Name of production
• Genre
• Target Audience
• Where it will be aired
• What elements need to be included
• Submission date
• Time limitations
• Location
• Skills required
• Equipment
• Actors
4. 2 analysed examples of productions from your genre.
1. Mise-en-scene
2. Camera angles and shots
3. Use of correct lighting
4. Locations used
5. Professional pre-production
Prior to shooting your production, you need to plan it to ensure its success.
Complete the pre-production booklet in as much detail as possible as this will
help you to produce as professional a product as possible. It will make your
more time efficient when filming and will ensure you move the camera more
effectively.
Your pre-production should include the following (some may vary dependent
on production)
• Production Schedule
• Script / Shooting Script
• Storyboard
• Props List
• Crew List
• Location Recces
• Clearances and Confirmations
• Contingency Plan
We would like you to avoid using the green screen if possible. You may only
use it based on our approval and with us checking thorough planning
beforehand.
A good video should be shot in a well-chosen location and not
rely on using our studio. In the past, students who have sought a
proper location, have had much greater success with their
videos – it is worth the extra effort!
LO3 Evaluation:
It is extremely important that these are completed as you work and not just at
the end. Please remember to take photos as you film and screenshots as you
edit. All of this will help to support what you are evaluating.
