To Whom It May Concern:

It is with considerable interest that I submit my application for the Band Director position that
has recently become available at Arizona High School. Through my diverse training and unique
experiences, I am confident in my ability to become an asset to Arizona High School and to the
Arizona Unified School District as a whole.

Currently, I am a Senior Music Education student at the University of Arizona and am student
teaching under the tutelage of Mr. Jim Matsushino at Cienega High School in Vail, Arizona.
During my time at the University, I have made it a point to enrich my education in every way
possible so as to best prepare myself for a successful professional career. As a versatile musician
and educator, I have served as Drum Major of the esteemed Pride of Arizona for the past three
years, been an active member of the UA Wind Ensemble, Concert Jazz Band, UA Pep Band, and
the Catalina Saxophone Quartet, and have worked with the Prescott High School and Casteel
High School Marching Bands. Through my involvement in these tremendous organizations, I
have witnessed, first-hand, the transformative capabilities inherently present in music.

As a music educator, it is my obligation to bring my students into a life-long love and

appreciation for music. I believe that a quality music education produces responsible, open-
minded and tiresomely hard-working individuals. They become independent, creative thinkers
who advocate for the arts. Furthermore, music challenges students to be disciplined, flexible
and considerate. It exposes them to new information, cultures and ideals. As a music educator, I
put my whole being into joyfully sharing my unbridled passion for music and knowledge,
while demonstrating to my students that music undoubtedly has the power to change the world

I am excited by the prospect of working as a music educator at Arizona High School. I look
forward to meeting with you to further discuss my qualifications and the ways in which I can
