Naissus is an important Roman and early Byzantine city which
Used to be the site of today’s city of NS. Later on fortifications
and the present-day settlement have almost completely
destroyed the remnants of this ancient city, The Romans
inhabited the area of the city as early as the first century AD
after they had defeated the Dardanians. its location on an
important commercial route conditioned its rapid economic
development which wes particularly evident in the fourth century AD, when kt was home 10 a workshop for the
manufacture of arms and a workshop for making silverware. Of particular interest are ts finds such as a bronze head.

Mediana is one of the most important ancient archaeological
Sites in this territory. tis situated on the left bank of the Nisava
river near Naissus. It's a sumptuous holiday home which was
buit, as assumed, for Constantine and nis successors. The
central building s a vila vith a peristyle decorated with amazing
floor mosaics. In adcition to this building, a'so unearthed were
thermae and an emporium, as well as a developed system of
water supply with an aqueduct and a water tover. The structure
