‘To Whom It May Concern, 1/22/18
Itis with great pleasure that I am writing this letter of recommendation on behalf of Mr. Scott
Schick. Scott is currently teaching 8" grade social studies here at Blackford Junior High School,
while also serving as our building athletic director and as dean of students for a couple periods in the
morning, Itis his desire and drive to build relationships with his students in order to become more
effective in the classroom, and Mr, Schick is succeeding in this greatly!
‘When one is to visit Mr. Schick in his classroom, he or she will witness student engagement at an
incredibly high level. Students may be completely captured by a story, or mini lectute Mr. Schick is
sharing, ‘They may be collaborating in meaningful group work. ‘The students may be engaged in
role-playing activities all while also answering and asking higher order questions. Mr. Schick
understands that, in order to build a classroom with this level of expectation and student energy, the
relationship must come first. This is carried over to the athletic director position of Mr. Schick’s job
as well. He is a man of his word and works countless hours organizing events and dedicating
himself to building a culture of success, excitement, and unity among our schools here at Blackford
County School Corporation
Itis without reservation that I recommend Mr. Scott Schick for your position. As Stephen Covey
once wrote, “Be a light, nota judge. Bea model, nota critic. Be part of the solution, not part of the
problem”, Mr. Scott Schick is a light, a model, and a problem solver here at BJHS. Please do not
hesitate to reach out with questions.
Sincerely,
wile
Mr. Gibey MeVicker
