ABSTRACT
Automatic rain gauges designed to measure rainfall and store data well. The tool works with sensors and
stores into memory according to the time of rainfall, using microcontroller equipped with Logger as
storage memory and Software Measurement Information System. This instrument is called Automatic
Rain Gauge (ARG). The intensity and duration of rainfall can be measured with this tool. The ARG tool is
integrated with the internet which aims to keep the data from ARG visible online and do not need to do
manual observation. Rainfall data will not disappear as long as the system works normally and there is
still a power supply to run the system. The existence of these instruments can replace conventional
rainfall observation systems or common rainfall stations in BMKG-Indonesia. It was hoped that
substitutions from common rain stations could generate more profits including network, cost, and
simplicity of operating data and accuracy. This instrument will help observers who have non-specific
education in meteorology or climatology.
