I’ve went to the governors palace
and read about the history of this
place. We found out that Thomas
THE GOVERNORS Jefferson worked here which
helped make slavery fade away
PALACE starting from upper America.
Thomas Jefferson soon after,
became the president of the
United States of America.
The courthouse was a place where men came to
make decisions. Most of the people that worked
COURTHOUSE here, made the Declaration of Independence. This
place was trying to make peace throughout the
country. It is two very large buildings combined.
The Bruton
Parish Church
was created in
1674. Most
people in
Colonial
Williamsburg
went here back
then, one town
was mostly one
religion. Bruton
Parish Church is
still in use by
people to have
Church lessons!
Lunch, foodways We ate lunch at foodways.
Historical fact:
The people who served
in the Govenor’s palace
sometimes met and ate
here to talk about
political things.

Fun fact:
The Foodway staff still
prepares food at the
Goveners palace today.
Fun fact: in
some of the art
pieces, it
represented
colonial
Williamsburg
For our break, we went to the Muscaralle Musem of
Art. There was many different art pieces, in some of
the art it represented Colonial Williamsburg. We
could sit down and admire all of the artworks from
simple little dots, to magnificent artworks, and
maybe be some things that can make you feel like
you are in an magical land. When we went there we
sat on the chairs and watched a art documentary. It
was nice to see all of the art represented in one
place.
RALEIGH TAVERN
▪ This place is where people have meetings, usually for
government but sometimes used for auctions and trade fairs.
This includes meetings with army, soldiers, and many other
government things. When we went there we realized that it
was a small building considering they had many meetings
there.
The Wythe house
We went to the Wythe House and this is where the generals
stayed a long time ago, we were happy to see the place
where generals all worked including Washington, who was
also a general, also known as General Washington, the
generals all stayed here a long time ago and the kids surely
loved it, everyone knows about Washington , it held a few
meetings.
FUN FACT: WASHINGTON WAS HERE.
HISTORICAL FACTS: ALL THE GENERALS MET HERE DAILY.
CHRISTIANA CAMPBELL’S TAVERN
▪ This is our last stop. This is where we ate dinner. The buses were waiting for us
outside. The food was delicious and we all begged for more!
▪ Fun fact
▪ Today this tavern serves food that the “founding fathers” liked.
▪ Historical fact:
▪ George Washington was a faithful customer of this place.
We used to think
We all used to think that colonial Williamsburg wasn’t that big of a
thing, we thought it’s just a boring old spot or historical event, but we
did know that George Washington was alive at this point of time.
Now we think
We know at least 70% of everything in Colonial Williamsburg, it’s like
we just went there today, there is Breton parish church, the governors
palace, the courthouse, Muscarelle museum of art, Raleigh Tavern and
Wythe house.
