01 ABOUT US.
The legendary Leo Club of Kolonnawa is one of the well
decorated and well experienced leo clubs hailed from Leo District
306C1. The club ultimately became a leading and a popular Leo club
among the local community of sri lanka by going along with 19 years
of excellence.

The legendary Leo club of Kolonnawa has pioneered and successfully

executed more than 2500 Charity projects during the past 19 years.
The slogan "A family like no other ", have added a significant
uniqueness to the club.

Throughout these Long years the Leo club of Kolonnawa has

produced 5 district presidents to the Leo District 306C1.

The club was recognised by the International and by the

Multiple District of 306 many times and has been awarded for its
extraordinary ability to work for a betterment of todays world. The
proud club always keen on to do massive service project which is
more productive in every sense.

02 HIGHLIGHTS
IGHLIGHTS
Each minute, each day & each month is very precious. Therefore we
always try as much as possible to help to draw a smile on a person’s face.

The month of November there was 2 main projects chaired by the Leo
club of Kolonnawa.

The Project ‘we are not alone’ was a project hosted for the children
section of the maharagama cancer hospital and the monthly continuous
project ‘Dhaana’ was held at the Kolonawa Marthuu niwasaya clinic.

The Leos of Kolonnawa teamed up with each other to plan and to

implement these projects. The month of November was a successful
month and we, the young Leos of Kolonnawa was able to draw smile on
more than 35 people this month.

01WE ARE NOT ALONE
The Lions Peace Poster competition is an international poster competition
for kids under age of 11, 12, and 13 years.It is a great opportunity to share
about peace with their own artistic vision.Therefore the caretakers of The Leo
club of Kolonnawa hosted the competition to the little children in the Apeksha
Hospital on 5th of November 2017 from 9.00 am onwards. The program was a
simple one. With the participation of 12 Leos from Kolonnawa Leo club, indoor
activities was initiated. At the end of the event the children was gifted with
toys as a token of appreciation for their participation. The total number of
children participated for the competition was 17 kids.

Childhood is about innocence and playfulness. It’s about Joy and freedom.
Through this project the children were able to express their happiness and
freedom in a friendly manner.

The event became a success because of our club members. I would like to
take a moment to appreciate each and every member for the effort and time
spent to make this event a success.

02 DHAANA
Our Leos enjoy exploring many opportunities for serving the community.
On 5 th of November the Leo club of Kolonnawa initiated the continuous
Dhaana project for the Kolonnawa Marthuu Niwasaya with the
collaboration of the Lions club of Kolonnawa.

The participants of the Clinic got a packet of Nutritious grams, Soap,

2 packets of biscuits from the Leo club of Kolonnawa.

The number of beneficiaries of this project was 15. The lions club of
Kolonnawa donated milk powder packets, Samaposha packets and all the
vital medication needed for the same mothers and children who
participated on this day.

Let’s take a moment to contribute our heartfelt gratitude to the Lions club
of Kolonnawa, the President of Leo club of Kolonnawa, Leo Nisal Dulmith
for initiating the project and for all the participants who witnessed this
glorious project.

03 LEO AND ME

Leo club of Kolonnawa

In the beginning even though I was not aware of what leoism was I
took a decision to join leoism. Back then I took part in the Leo projects
and Meetings as a normal member.

After sometimes by Becoming a member of this club I got a chance to

expose myself to the world. Through Leoism I made a lot of new
friends inside and outside of my Leo club.

Throughout this time period thanks to leoism I got a chance to identify

my weaknesses, my strengths, my opportunities and to set new goals
in life. I got a chance to get myself organized. By becoming a member
of this club it helped me to increase my leadership skills within myself
and to gain confidence within me. This self-awareness I got to know is a
huge benefit for my future career development.

It’s interesting to work hand in hand with my dear club members. They
all treat each other like family. They mentor each other, encourage one
another and help each other to climb up the leadership ladder. I have
learned and observed plenty from every senior, equivalent and junior
members.

Leoism is a best opportunity & experience for my life. You will not
realize how this movement and the things you learn through Leoism
will blend into your daily life until you start this amazing journey.

 DID YOU KNOW??
Mahendra Amarasuriya is the first Sri Lankan to be
appointed as the Lions Club International President.

04 HEART AND SOUL monthly meeting

november
The monthly meeting for the month of November was held on 26 th of
November 2017 at the residence of the club treasurer Leo Sapumal
Rupasinghe starting from 10.00 am.

Commodore Ananda Guruge, Director Naval Personnel accepted the

invitation from the Leo club of Kolonnawa and participated for the meeting
as the guest speaker.
Commodore Ananda shared his life story with the youngsters. He shared
the difficulties he had to face through the road to success. He explained
how his determination got him through even In the middle of other people’s
negative minds.

Special thanks goes to the Guest Speaker - Commodore Ananda and to our
leo Advisor of our leo club, Lion Lesli Lelananda for participating and for the
guidance given for us youngsters and Leo Sapumal Rupasinghe for opening
up his home and hosting the monthly meeting.
