Ludwig Wittgenstein, a philosopher of language, once said "the limits of my language means

the limits of my world.” He implies that those who solely speak one language, only live in one world.
Language is an integral part of our lives. It is an instrument of expression. It allows us to express our
emotions and feelings, and to influence the activities of others. Language is a system of gestures,
sounds, and signs that people use in order to communicate with each other. It plays a very important
role in human lives as it is the only way we are able to exchange information. In other words, it gives
us an opportunity to understand and be understood.

The significance of communication between people equates the significance of language. With
language as your tool, you are capable of exploring other worlds. On the contrary, it is said that if a
human being is not capable of using a language, his world is limited. I believe that language is the
bridge linking individuals and the outside world; thus, it is a key element of human life. By the end of
the day, almost everybody comes to the realization of the fact that there are instances when we can no
longer articulate our thoughts simply with the use of words. Having that said, our language remains to
be limited. One of the limits of language in humanity is the occurrence of not having to utterly express
one’s feelings. I think that if we do not have a word in order to describe a specific emotion, feeling, or
even a sound in our language, then we would not be able to experience these things. An example of
this is the huge gap between the sound of a bell and its description.

There is a close relationship between the language and the culture of a community. A person’s
mind is a constrained inner world and is greatly affected by the limitations of language. Language
being directly associated with culture, simply means, that people who lack knowledge of language
have a low level of culture. In addition, insufficient knowledge of your native language is the barrier
for learning a new language. People who do not know their native language appropriately will not
have a basis for learning a foreign one. The said limitations of our language also limits our
communication with people and the world.

In conclusion, language can be explored and illustrated under several criteria, coming to the
most contrastive judgments. It is this wide variety of aspects in studying similar objects that makes
language a perpetual phenomenon. “Language is an actor that both shapes, and is shaped by the social
community in which it plays a significant role” (Batran, 2015).
