THE DISCIPLINE OF QUIET TIME

Text- Mark 1:35 And in the morning, rising up a great while before day, he went
out, and departed into a solitary place, and there prayed.

Introduction:
 What is quiet time? It is a TIME SET ASIDE in a CERTAIN PLACE where a person
can GET AWAY, BE ALONE, and DRAW NEAR TO GOD.

3 things to consider from the example of Christ

1. It is an Intentional appointment.

 Mark 1:35 And in the morning, rising up a great while before day, he went out,
and departed into a solitary place, and there prayed.

 Why did Christ have to wake up very early to have his quiet time?
 What are the advantages if you schedule your quiet time early in the morning?

2. It is an Important aloneness

 From what things did Christ separate himself from so that he could be alone
with His father?
 What do you think are the things we need to separate from so that we can have
a meaningful quiet time?

3. It is an Intimate attachment

 What did Christ do in his quiet time with the Father?


 How can prayer makes us intimate with God?

Conclusion
Three basic things to know to establish your own quiet time
1. SPOT. Select the place where are you going to do it.
2. SCHEDULE. Set the time when you are going to do it.
3. SYSTEM. Set up a program on how you are going to do it (eg.. praying,
singing, reading of the Bible etc…)
