ABSTRACT:- A microcontroller is used for generating sine wave with minimized harmonics. The
proposed technique is used to design a pure sine wave inverter ( single phase ).The design is
essentially is focussed upon low power electronic appliances. The inverter topology with transformer
is used to convert 12V DC to 12V DC which is then stepped up using a step up transformer to 220V
AC.

INTRODUCTION:- Most of the inverters available in the market are either square wave or quasi sine
wave inverters.Lights and fans can only be switched with the help of them and other electronic
devices cannot be plugged into them as they damage the components. Most of the available sine
wave inverters are very expensive. The cheap square wave and quasi sine wave inverters have higher
harmonic distortion and noise. As such for extracting fundamental harmonic components, higher
order filters are required. This increases the size of the filter.

A pure sine wave inverter removes the problems associated with square wave and quasi sine wave
inverters. There are different topologies of sine wave inverters. The inverter topology with a step-up
transformer will be used for this design. The basic design of a single-phase inverter is shown below
A pwm signal is generated by comparing a sinusoid wave with a triangular wave. This requires
additional hardware components. But in the proposed design using a microcontroller based Arduino
board simple programming is used to generate the spwm signal.
