2018 LENT - HOLY WEEK - EASTER CELEBRATIONS

1. OBJECTIVES

Doctrinal: Proclaim the Paschal Mystery – passion, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ,
and understand their meaning in our lives in the light of Renewed Integral
Evangelization.

Moral: Come back to God through repentance, witness to the Gospel and charitable acts or
Alay-Kapwa. Promote peace through justice specially to those in the peripheries.

Liturgical: Be in communion with the Paschal Mystery through the celebrations of the
Word and the Sacraments, likewise in all liturgical celebrations during the season of Lent.
Foster the meaningful traditional practices during the Holy Week according to the
teachings of II Vatican Council on Renewed Integral Evangelization.

Spiritual: Follow Jesus as an avowed disciple by living his glorious cross daily (Lk 9:23).

2. ACTIVITIES
February 14 – ASH WEDNESDAY . This is a day of Fast and Abstinence.
5:30 PM - Blessing and Giving/Imposition of Ashes
Via Crucis – every Friday of Lent in the barangay and surrounding communities
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
VIA CRUCIS or Way of the Cross is a journey of faith with Jesus towards the unfathomable
love of God for us. In love, God gave us his only Son (Jn3:16); in love, the Son died on the
cross so we may live.
The cross in necessary for our salvation. Neither it is a burden nor death for us. With Jesus,
let us carry our cross daily (Mt.16:24). As we go through the Via Crucis, may we reflect on its
message for us: the Father’s love who sent His Son to be one with us sinners in order to
redeem us from sins, Jesus invitation to follow and be one with him in difficulties and pains
but will lead us to the fullness of life, and the true conversion asked of us , through the help
of the Holy Spirit.
