CLASSIFICATION AND IDENTIFICATION OF CATARACT USING

IMAGE PROCESSING TECHNIQUE

ABSTRACT:

A cataract is defined as any opacity in the human lens. Throughout life, your crystal clear
lenses at birth undergo changes which eventually produce opacification. This may be significant
enough to interfere with ones vision later in life. According to the Department of Health (DOH),
roughly 570,000 Filipinos are blind in both eyes in the Philippines, 62.1% of which is due to
cataract. Cataract is the leading cause of blindness worldwide and commonly affects people over
60 years old. The researchers will create a system that will use image processing technique that
will diagnose a patient with cataract, this system will also identify which type of cataract is being
tested.
