Assessment Scheme
Mid semester Exam: 30%
Quiz (4 quizzes): 20%
Project: 10%
Final Exam: 40%

Project
The goal of the project is to systematically analyze the dynamics of a toy, eg tippe top, rattleback.
frisbee. Derive the equations of motions and solve the equations analytically/semi-
analytically/numerically. You will have to submit a typed project report which includes:
1. Description of your problem
2. Modeling of your problems - assumptions, free body diagrams, etc
3. Derivation of equations of motion
4. Solution of the equations of motion – analytically/semi-analytically/numerically.
5. Experimental results
6. Conclusions

Academic Integrity:
The students are expected to refrain from cheating and plagiarism while solving the exams and working
on the project. In case a student is found to indulge in any such activity, action will be taken as per the
institute guidelines.

Attendance
A student is expected to attend all the lectures. A student not having 80% attendance may be debarred
from appearing from the end-semester exam and given a DX grade.
