RE: Thomas Hurley

To Whom It May Concern:

It is my sincere pleasure to write this letter of recommending Thomas Hurley for a

teaching position. Mr. Hurley recently completed his Springfield College student
teaching practicum experience. As part of this 6 month program, I served as Mr.
Hurley’s Program Supervisor in both the Elementary and Secondary levels.
Because of my close interaction working with Mr. Hurley, I feel qualified to
comment on Mr. Hurley’s potential as an elementary/secondary teaching
educator.
Throughout the year, Mr. Hurley continued to develop a progressive approach to
Physical Education teaching, and has become very proficient at planning and
teaching developmentally all-inclusive lessons. Mr. Hurley not only demonstrated
a command of the subject matter, but also interacted with students and
facilitated class discussions in a manner consistent with an experienced teacher.
Students clearly respect him and responded to his proactive approaches to
classroom management.
In short, Mr. Hurley is an excellent beginning teacher. Not only is he able to plan
instruction that is engaging and developmentally appropriate, use a variety of
assessment strategies to monitor and evaluate student learning, masterfully
orchestrate classroom discussions and effectively manage classroom routines and
student behavior, but he is also a consummate professional. In addition, Mr.
Hurley is willing to share his ideas with colleagues and capitalize on opportunities
to learn from others.
After evaluating his work, observing his performance in class, and supervising his
student teaching, I feel confident that Mr. Hurley will make a significant
contribution as an elementary or secondary educator. I give him my highest
recommendation for teaching positions.
