Inappropriate Textual Borrowing in an EFL Academic Setting

texts in paraphrase, the relationship between one another, and the factors that
influence the selection of a text either by the excellent author or unexcellent
author.

five graduate and undergraduate students in Taiwan. it is found that students'
behaviour and perceptions are not appropriate. They argue that paraphrase is very
important and does not support the existence of a plagiarism. However, it is not in
accordance with the facts that already exist. Where paraphrase text produced by
either undergraduate or postgraduate student is unacceptable. Accustomed to
quote Chinese writing, unaccustomed and lack of experience is the cause of the
difficulty of absorbing a science, the paraphrase is not explored in its entirety is
the basis of the occurrence of it.

In addition, the number of words plagiarized by undergraduate compared

to postgraduate. This occurs, because of the inadequacy of metacognitive
strategies of scholars and their imperfect cognitive development.

In this case, the EFL writing class is required in enhancing knowledge

because paraphrases can be trained, English proficiency and metacognition can be
strengthened, as well as enhanced awareness and implementation of EFL students
