When I was a kid, my father used to work at an Edible Oil refinery, sometimes I
used to accompany him to work during my free time.
I loved watching and learning about different processes involved in the operation of the plant, be it control of the machines, management of the workers or processing of the raw materials. I was always fascinated with this idea of transformation of inputs into such useful goods and services, in my case processing of seeds to cooking oil. I never realised when this fascination turned into an inspiration for me. Growing up I learnt about the dire necessity of chemical engineering for applications across a wide spectrum including industrial, medical and technological fields and it has always been nothing less than intriguing to me owing to a plethora of intricate processes, equipments and techniques. I was thereby privileged to be enrolled into BMS College of Engineering, one of the countrys most premier technical institutions, for the Chemical Engineering undergraduate program. There Ive had a comprehensive exposure to plenty of relevant chemical engineering subjects, which have significantly enhanced my cognition of this field.
To improve my grasp on various concepts beyond our curriculum, I took part in
various programs and competitive events. I bagged the Runners-up position at the Sustainability Challenge conducted by the prestigious Indian Institute of Technology, Madras. My task was to design a production plant in the most sustainable way possible. Additionally, my theoretical understanding of these subjects was further enhanced during my internship, where I got the oppurtunity to closely learn how a plant operates and all the process which goes behind the manufacturing of a product. I also had the opportunity to visit multiple industries like Bosch and Jubilant Life Sciences, which helped me understand the functioning and working of an organization.
Keeping in mind the importance of over-all personality development, while fixating
focus on ones academic prowess, I have actively taken part in numerous extra curricular undertakings. I was part of the core commitee of an NGO, Gramiksha, where we strive to help augment the welfare of destitute children by focusing on their education as our primary agenda. I was also appointed event-coordinator for our department technical fest Confluence where I learnt to improve my managerial and logistical skills.
