 REGULATIONS
The International Classical Guitar Competition
“Academician Marin Goleminov” is organized under
the patronage of the Mayor of Kyustendil
Municipality.
Art Director of the Competition is Mr. Ivan Andonov.
The XXII Classical Guitar Competition will be held
from 28th to 31th Marth 2018 in the town of
Kyustendil, Republic of Bulgaria.
Guitarists from all over the world who would like to
take part in the Competition and have filled in and sent
the application form until 20th March 2018 may
participate as contestants in the following groups:
First group – under 10 years including
Second group – from 11 to 13 years of age including
Third group – from 14 to 17 years of age including
Fourth group – over 18 years
Fifth group – „Free Stage of the Soloist”- without age
restrictions
Sixth group – „Guitar +”- without age restrictions
Seventh group –„Chamber Music” - without age
restrictions
Eighth group – „Guitar Ensembles and Orchestras”-
without age restrictions
No fee is required for participation.
PRIZES
The reward fund includes money bonuses, pieces of art
and object prizes running up to the total amount of
6,000 Bulgarian leva.
The following prizes will be awarded:
First and second group
1st prize - 80 leva, 2nd prize - 70 leva, 3rd prize - 60 leva
Third and fourth group
1st prize- 90 leva, 2nd prize - 80 leva, 3rd prize - 70 leva
Fifth, sixth and seventh group
1st prize - 80 leva, 2nd prize - 70 leva, 3rd prize - 60 leva
Eighth group
1st prize - 100 leva, 2nd prize - 90 leva, 3rd prize -80leva
Besides with the cash prizes in each group, subject
awards and cash prizes are awarded provided by the
sponsors of the competition.
In the 2nd 3rd age groups will be awarded 3 annual
scholarships in each group to the participants ranked
first, second and third place in the amount of 135 lev
per month provided under the Program of measures for
the protection of gifted children by the Ministry of
Culture in Bulgaria. Therefore, one first, one second
and one third place will be awarded in this groups.
The participants in this groups – guitarists from
Children’s Music Schools at Cultural Centres or other
educational institutions, State Specialized Music and
Art Schools compete in one and the same category.
The participants in all the other groups complete in
two categories – Children’s Music Schools and State
Specialized Music Schools.
The jury will award three special prizes in each group.
Each participant may appear in only one chosen by
him solo category.
The competition will be awarded two special prizes:
- Lyuben Haralambiev statuette for the most artistic
performance.
- Money Prize in memory of Valentin Valchev.
- The highest prize is the Competition “Grand-Prix”
– cash prize, object awards and a painting by a famous
painter from Kyustendil. It will be awarded to the
guitarist who gives the best performance at the
Competition.
The winners of the first prizes from the previous
edition of the Competition in 2017 may not take part
in the same groups.
The order of participation for the contestants in the
first, second, third and fourth group will be decided by
drawing lots at the official opening of the Competition
and for the other groups before the competition of the
relevant group.

The competition for First and Second age group is held
in one round

Free programme - up to 8 minutes
SECOND GROUP
Free programme - variety of styles which could
include pieces from different music-historical epochs –
up to 10 minutes.
The competition for Third and Fourth age group is
held in two rounds:

F IRST ROUND
Free programme - variety of styles which could
include pieces from different music-historical epochs
– up to 12 minutes
SECOND ROUND
Free programme - variety of styles which could
include pieces from different music-historical epochs
– up to 15 minutes.
F OURTH GROUP
F IRST ROUND
Free programme - variety of styles which could
include pieces from different music-historical epochs
– up to – up to 17 minutes
SECOND ROUND
Free programme-variety of styles which could
include pieces from different music-historical epochs
– up to 18 minutes.
The competition for Fifth, Sixth, Seventh and
Eighth group will be held in one round.
F IFTH GROUP “F REE STAGE OF THE S OLOIST”
All the guitarists, without age restrictions, who
would like to participate and have prepared free
programme up to 15 minutes may take part in this
group.
SIXTH GROUP “GUITAR +”
All the solo performers and vocal-instrumental
groups, ( the guitar is an obligatory instrument), who
would like to participate and have prepared
programme without genre restriction up to 15
minutes may take part in this group.
SEVENTH GROUP “CHAMBER MUSIC”
All the guitar duos, trios, quartets and quintets, who
would like to participate and have prepared a free
programme up to 15 minutes, may take part in this
group.
EIGHTH GROUP “GUITAR ENSEMBLES AND
ORCHESTRAS ”
All the guitar ensembles and orchestras, who would
like to participate and have prepared a free
programme up to 20 minutes, may take part in this
group.
