Forrest Gump

Forrest Gump is a American comedy-drama romance movie based on the novel with
the same name by Winston Groom. The movie was directed by Robert Zemeckis, starring
Tom Hanks, Robin Wright, and Gary Sinise. It was released on July 6th, 1994 with duration
about 141 minutes. The story tells about the slow-witted Forrest Gump’s first three decades
of life, where he involves in many historical and memorable events of the second half of the
20th century, from teaching Elvis Presley to dance to being the original investor in Apple
Computers, and accomplishes many things people have never imagined before.

Forrest Gump has always been labeled as ‘idiot’ since he was a child, possessing IQ
of 75 and being rather on the slow side amongst children around his age. With the endless
love and affection her mother has showered him, he actually grows up well. The adult Forrest
Gump then becomes football star in the University of Alabama, is sent to Vietnam after
enlisting into the Army, transforms into a ping pong star, opens a profitable shrimping
business to fulfill his promise to his friend Bubba, and is remembered as a person who runs
across America for three straight years. He then ends his journey and decides to return home.
As the remarkable parade of his life goes by, Forrest never once forgets his first love, Jenny.
They later get married and live in Forrest’s old house. Jenny, however, soon passes away,
leaving his husband and son, Forrest Gump Jr.

Overall, it is a good movie because it brings many moral values and positive
messages. Since this movie has some adult scenes, for minors, however, it’s better to watch
this movie with parental guidance.

I actually like this kind of movie since it is so inspirational. It tells that that we are the
same as everybody else despite the lack we have and inferiority never once becomes our
obstacle to success in life, in contrary, it actually becomes our booster so that we can be a
better, successful person. I mark this movie five out of five and I strongly recommend people
to watch it.
