! CAUTIONS
Properties/applications shown throughout this catalog are typical.
Performance data referred to in this catalog are based on our own test results and on performance in general
applications under normal conditions.
Products listed in this catalog are used in diverse locations and for numerous types of machinery and equipment, and
actual conditions of use also differ extensively. Consequently, when using these products, we recommend that you
implement verification tests under the actual conditions of use.
Regarding individual applications, it is necessary to make a selection decision based on individual designs and on
suitability evaluations. For special applications, please consult us.
The contents of this catalog are subject to change without prior notice.
1. Never use for any purpose other than the prescribed application.
2. When processing, use sharp cutting tools.
3. Always follow the instructions in this catalog or the instruction manual when installing equipment, etc.
4. Do not re-use gaskets unless this is specifically indicated.
5. When replacing, carefully remove all of the old material before installing the new product.
6. To maintain performance, store packaged products in a cool and dark place.
7. Please refer to MSDS (Manufacturer Safety Data Sheet) concerning health and hygiene cautions.
8. When disposing, comply with all regulations in your country. Waste should be properly disposed of at a permitted
disposal site. Do not incinerate the used products, especially those containing fluoropolymer resin as it will generate
toxic gas when burning.

Definitions of Terminology
Fluids
In this catalog, the fluids sealed with gaskets are classified as follows.
Depending on the type of gasket, however, there are various cases where one type
of gasket cannot always be used in the same way for the same fluid.
Wm1= – π G2P+2πbGmP
4
Wm2=πbGy
P = internal pressure
G = effective gasket diameter
b = effective gasket width
m= gasket factor
y = minimum designed seating stress
In some cases, however, this seating stress may not be sufficient depending on
certain types of fluids and or certain types of gaskets. So, among the three seating
stresses (Wm1, Wm2, Wm3), the largest value shall be employed as the minimum
seating stress.
Wm3=σ3 Ag
σ3= minimum seating stress
Ag = gasket contact area (projected surface area)
The minimum seating stresses used in this catalog is "σ3" in the above
equation, and not "y".

■JOINT SHEETS
Compressed fiber joint sheet is a gasket made of a uniform mixture of fibrous
material, filler, rubber and chemicals which is hot rolled by calendering to
obtain smooth sheets. The sheets are processed to the required shapes and
dimensions for applications in equipment, etc., in a wide range of industries.

■Features : Inorganic filler is added to inorganic fibers
and aramid fibers; then oil-resistant synthetic rubber is
added as binder to form brown NA (non-asbestos) joint
sheets which contain absolutely no asbestos.
This gasket can be used for stainless steel flange since
leachable halogens are little.
■Applications : Gaskets for various types of piping

■VORTEX GASKETS
Vortex gaskets are semi-metallic gaskets. Owing to their special
construction, Vortex gaskets can be used at high temperatures and high
pressures like metal gaskets. Sealability is outstanding and a wide application
range is possible for various types of piping and equipment.
■Construction
Vortex gaskets are made of thin V-shaped metal
hoops and non-metallic cushioning filler. These are
wound into a spiral shape by welding at the beginning
and end of the spiral winding. Vortex gaskets are
available in four types: basic, with an inner ring, with
an outer ring, and with both inner and outer rings.

Hollow Metal Rings
Metal O-Seal TOMBO No. 9200
Stainless steel or Inconel tubes are formed into an O-ring
shape, the ends are welded together, and then surfaces are
finished ultra-smooth.
PTFE coating or silver plating is used on the surfaces for
sealing gases, vacuum and highly volatile liquids.
Highly reliable sealing performance is provided over a wide
range from high temperatures to cryogenic temperatures, and
from high pressures to vacuum.
This gasket features a compact design that requires a
comparatively low seating stress and requires little space.

■GRASEAL GASKETS 獏
■Features
1. Sealability remains almost same throughout a range of
cryogenic to high temperature (400℃).
2. Excellent chemical resistance to almost all liquids other
than strong oxidizing acids, etc.
3. Since cold flow and creep property are minor, it is not
affected by over-tightening of gasket.

PTFE Enveloped Gaskets
NAFLON PTFE Cushion Gasket
獏
TOMBO No.9010
The core of non-asbestos joint sheet, non-asbebestos paper
etc., is covered with a thin film of PTFE. PTFE cut gaskets are
subject to cold flow; therefore, they are not suitable for use
with general pipe flanges. They also lack elasticity and are not
always able to absorb unevenness on the flange surface
completely. The combination of PTFE and cushioning core is
able to absorb a certain amount of flange distortion.
Improvements to cold flow have also been made.
Less seating stress is required than with PTFE cut gaskets.
The inside diameter and seal surface are completely covered
with PTFE film; therefore, there is no contamination of fluids.
Furthermore, chemical and corrosive solution resistance are
excellent, and there is an electrical insulation effect. This gasket TOMBO No. 9010-NA-A-5, 9010-NA-R-A-5
can be used for a wide range of applications in such fields as
fine chemicals, petrochemicals, pharmaceuticals, foodstuffs
and general industries.
■Applications
¡Various corrosive fluids, organic solvents.
¡Fluids where contamination is not allowed.
¡Where electrical insulation is required.

■Gasket construction
Gasket type Cross section Construction and explanation
The same as type A but with a square inner section. There is little space inside the gasket,
so there is less possibility of damage by the rapid expansion of air due to temperature rises.
AS
Appropriate design of the inside diameter reduces the accumulation of liquid and smoothes
the flow in the fluid.
The same as types A and AS but with the outer periphery sealed. Fluid from
R-A the exterior cannot penetrate or leak into the core. Because of this
construction, even when used in vacuum lines, the covering strongly resists
being pulled inside. Since there is no turning of the covering, setting is
smooth even when the flange gap is narrow.
The standard dimensions are JIS 10K, 15A - 600A. Please consult us

NAFLON Paste 獏
TOMBO No.9400
General purpose gasket paste, made by dispersing
fine colloidal particles of PTFE in water. This
gasket paste is inactive at ambient temperature.
As it is also chemical resistant, this paste can be
used for acids and corrosive fluids. For PTFE type
gasket, this paste is most suitable.
Cautions
1. For gasket paste in can, stir well before using.
2. Apply a thin coat with a brush, waste, etc. Excessive application may result in gasket damage.
3. To improve the gas sealing performance with joint sheet,
apply gasket paste on the inner circumference to avoid leakage.
GASKET PASTE
4. Place the gasket on the flange before the gasket paste completely dries.
5. Store in a cool, dark place.
