1. Overview of Quick Drivers Installer
----------------------------------------------------------------
Quick Drivers Installer is a value-added solution to Fuji Xerox customers.
It facilitates the process of printer driver installation and collection of
printing
environment information for trouble-shooting.

It is divided into two operating modes. In User Mode, it is a


one-stop solution to install a printer driver on a local computer.

In Administrator Mode, it enables printer driver installation to multiple


computers simultaneously. It also provides a mechanism for customer
service helpdesk to collect system information for trouble-shooting.

2. Operating Environment

2.1 Hardware

- CPU
- An x86 or x64 compatible CPU machine with Pentium III
450MHz equivalent or higher
- Hard disk space
- 200MB and above (100MB and above during operation)

2.2 Software

- Operating System (32bit or 64bit)
- Windows 2000 Pro & Server (ServicePack2 or higher)
- Windows Server 2003 Standard or Enterprise
- Windows XP Professional (ServicePack2 or higher)

- Microsoft Internet Explorer

3. Compatiable Models

3.1 Find Printers / Printer Information Collection

- Some Printers may not be found by the Find Printers function

- Some Printers may not respond correctly to Information Collection

3.2 Install Options

- All options are supported by PCL drivers.

- PS drivers only support �Set as Default Printer� and �Test Page Printing�

4. Limitations
----------------------------------------------------------------

4.1 Notes on "Local Printer Driver Installation"

- Recommended that Quick Drivers Installer be run with Administrator


rights on the host computer.

- With Vista or later, if the follow message "An unidentified program


wants access to your computer" appears, click "allow" to continue.

- Only printer drivers compatible with the operating system on a target


computer are allowed to install.

- The printer driver version information might not be shown for some
printer drivers during installation.

- If the target PC already has an old version of the driver installed, then
The Quick Drivers Installer will not overwrite it.
4.2 Notes on "Find Printers"

- If the Windows firewall is on, please make sure the UDP ports 161
and 162 are added as exceptions. These ports must be open for the
�Find Printers� function to operate

- Make sure that any VMWare network interfaces are disabled.

- Only printers on the same network segment as the local computer


are searched.

- If SNMP agent over UDP is not enabled on a printer, it cannot be


found.

- In the case where several network interfaces are active at the same
time, "Find Printer" may not return a result.

4.3 Notes on "Set Printer Driver Options"

- Only for installing a printer driver on a local computer

- PCL drivers support all available option settings

- PS drivers support only support �Set As Default Printer� and �Test


Page Printing�

4.4 Notes on "Remote Printer Driver Installation"


----------------------------------------------------------------
- The username and password with administrator access rights on
the remote PC are required.

- Cannot set printer driver options

- In some cases, even though a connection to the remote computer


is successful, the printer driver installation might fail due to
timeout of the connection session.

- Pre-configured default settings of the driver .cfg file is supported.

4.5 Notes on "Printer/OS Information Collection"

- Only collects local computer OS information

- In "Printer information", the "SMB" value might be incorrect for


some DocuPrint devices.

- In "Printer information" of Administrator mode, the Serial


Number of some DocuPrint devices cannot be retrieved.

- In "OS information", in the case of Windows 2000, the system


manufacturer and model information can't be retrieved.

- In "Printer information", the Hard disk information of some


models might be incorrect.

4.6 Notes on "Printer Properties"

- The driver list on the Printer Properties tab doesn't automatically
refresh.

5. Message & Status Information
----------------------------------------------------------------

5.1 User Mode


----------------------------------------------------------------
- Ready to install :
The installation process has not started. Some additional
information may be needed, such as the IP address of the
printer or printer driver selection.

- Installing :
The process in which the printer drivers are being installed
on the Local PC or a Remote PC.

- Complete :
The installation process has been finished.

- Cancelled :
Installation was cancelled due to user request.

- Cancelled, driver specified is not 32/64-bit driver :


The installation is cancelled because the driver to be installed
does not match with OS architecture.

5.2 Administrator Mode

- Connect :
Successfully connected to the target computer.

- Failed to connect :
Cannot successfully connect to the target computer.

In the process of installing the driver to the target PC.

- Done :
Completed.

- Cancelled :
Installation was cancelled due to user request.

- Failed to login :
Unable to login to the remote PC. Check IP Address, User name
And Password.

- Failed to find IP :
Check if the computer is turned on and IP address is correct.

- Cancelled, driver specified is not 32/64-bit driver :


The installation is cancelled because the selected driver to be
Installed does not match with OS architecture.

- Failed to create port :


Cannot open a port to the target computer.
