Fay, James T.
James T. Fay, 80, of Marlborough, MA, formerly of
Seneca Falls and Binghamton, NY, died January 16,
2017. Loving husband of Zabel P. (Mooradian) Fay.
Born in Somerville, Massachusetts, he was the son
of James T. Fay, Sr. and Mildred B. (Cameron) Fay.
Jim was a graduate of Somerville High School (Class
of 1954) and Boston University. After working on
the Gemini Space Project forNASA, Jim worked for
40 years for GTE Sylvania/Philips ECG in Seneca
Falls, NY. In his retirement, he was employed by
Saint Patrick's Church in Seneca Falls, NY, and the
Broome County Board of Elections in Binghamton,
NY.
Jim is survived by his four children, daughter Sheryl
Fayand Al Seymour, of Port Crane, NY, Brian Fay
and his wife Kristin, of Geneva, NY, Jerome Fay
and his wife Jessica, of Sandwich, MA, and Sean
Fay and his wife Mary, of Marlborough, MA. He
was the adoring grandfather of Nicholas and Paul
Groover, Corey, Kyle, Jolene, Jenna, Kayleigh,
Lauren, and Cameron Fay. Jim is also survived by
his loving sister Nancy Grifone, of Framingham,
MA, and his cherished nieces and nephews. He was
predeceased by his sister-in-law Sonia Chatalian,
and his brothers-in law Jack Chatalian and Joseph
Grifone. Jim had deep faith, a strong work ethic, and
a passion for playing the piano, Cape Cod, and the
Boston Red Sox. Most of all, Jim lovedbeing with
his high school sweetheart and wife of 60 years,and
spending time with his grandchildren and family.
A funeral mass will be celebrated on Friday, January
20, 2017, at 11 AM, at Immaculate Conception
Parish, 11 Prospect St., Marlborough. Calling hours
will be held on Thursday, January 19, from 5-8 PM at
the William R. Short and Son Funeral Home, 95 W.
Main St., Marlborough, MA. Private burial services
will be held in Sandwich, MA, at a later date.

Brumbaugh, Anita Louise
Anita Louise Brumbaugh,
93, of Palmyra, Va.,
passed away on Monday,
January 16, 2017 at
the Hospice House of
Charlottesville.
Born October 14, 1923,
she was the daughter of
the late Robert and Stella
DuBois. In addition to her
parents, she was preceded in death by her husband
of 35 years, Philip Allen Brumbaugh, and her sister,
Roberta Jean Galkin.
Anita graduated from Union Endicott High School
in Endicott, N.Y. She was a longtime member of
First Presbyterian Church of Endicott, N.Y. Later in
life, she was a faithful member of University Baptist
Church in Charlottesville, Va. She was a member
of the Foster Valley Home Bureau, Tioga County,
N.Y., a volunteer at Martha Jefferson Hospital /
Cardwell Center, and a summer resident for over 40
years of Wrighter Lake in Thompson, Pa.
Anita and Phil knew each other throughout their high
school years at UE, but found each other again after
World War II. After marrying in 1946, they made a
life together in Endicott. They tried unsuccessfully
to have children of their own for nine years, but
expanded their family through adoption. Anita had
an unending love and devotion to her family, and, in
particular, had a very special knitting of souls with
her daughter.
Anita is survived by her son, Robert Alan Brumbaugh
and his wife, Jackie; and her daughter, Nancy Jean
Brumbaugh Hoadley.
A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m.
Saturday, January 21, 2017 in the Chapel at Hill &
Wood Funeral Home in Charlottesville, Va., with
Rev. Gary Dalton and Rev. Jack Averill officiating.
The family will receive friends starting at 10 a.m.
at the funeral home. Interment of her cremains will
take place at a later date at Vestal Hills Memorial
Park in Vestal, N.Y.

Panagiota “Pitsa”
Carvelas, 97, of
Binghamton died Monday
January 16, 2017 at
Susquehanna Nursing and
Rehabilitation Center.
She was predeceased by
her husband of 62 years
Nicholas J. Carvelas
and a son-in-law Anthony N. Stathis. She was a
beloved mother to Aphrodite Stathis, Webster,
NY, John Carvelas, Reno, NV and James Carvelas,
Binghamton. She was a loving grandmother to
Nicholas Stathis and Katherine Stathis and a loving
great-grandmother to Dunlin and Winter Stathis
and their mother Anna Trieller. She is also survived
by many nieces and nephews. She was a member of
Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, Binghamton
and a member of the Philoptochos Society. She
operated the Imperial Tea Room in Norwich with
her husband and brother-in-law Christos Carvelas.
The family wishes to thank the staff at Our Lady of
Lourdes Hospital and Susquehanna Nursing Center
for the loving care they gave to Pitsa. Funeral services
will be held at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church,
214 Court Street, Binghamton, Friday at 9:30 a.m.
Rev. Fr. Michael Bahlatzis, Pastor, will officiate.
Burial will be in Riverhurst Cemetery, Endwell. The

Briggs Lott, Barbara
Barbara Briggs Lott 96 went to be with her late
husband, Dr. Bruce D. Lott on Sunday, January 15,
2017.
She is survived by her two sons David (Anne) Lott
of Binghamton and Paul Lott of New Mexico; three
grandchildren, Leanne Morrell, Jason Lott and
Rayelene Lott, several great grandchildren,great
great grandchildren, a niece, Jamie Bromley and a
nephew Richard Bromley, both of Ogdensburg.
She was a girl scout and achieved the rank of Eaglet.
Barbara was a registered nurse in charge of the
contagion unit of General Hospital before she joined
her late husband in his surgical practice doing private
duty for his patients.
The family will receive friends Saturday, January 21,
2017 from 2-4pm at the Chopyak-Scheider Funeral
Home, 326 Prospect Street, Binghamton.

Hazekamp, Victoria, (nee Pyrtko), 98, of
Binghamton, NY formerly of Paramus, NJ, passed
away on Sunday, December 11, 2016. She was a
member of the United Reformed Church of Clifton
in Clifton, NJ.
She was predeceased by her husband Abraham,
sister Helen Deiner and brother Kenneth Pyrtko.
She is survived by her son Fred (Nancy) Hazekamp,
grandchildren Rebecca (Mathew) Beers and Dave
(Melissa) Hazekamp, great-grandchildren Caroline
and Madison Beers and Hannah Hazekamp, and
several nieces and nephews.

Binghamton, NY. Sharon
was born in Endicott
on October 1, 1945.
The daughter of the
late Thomas and Mary
Louise (Byers) Brown. She was predeceased by
her husband, Jay Campbell, her stepfather, Oscar
Luther, one brother, John Brown, and one sister,
Norma S. Brown; special cousins, Jack Cornett, Leo
Cornett, Jean Ackerman, Lois Beavan and Margaret
Kishpaugh. Sharon is survived by her brother in law,
Joseph Langevin, of Owego NY; cousin, Charles and
Bonnie Cornett, Florida , Harold Beavan, Johnson
City, NY, Richard and Dale Ackerman, NC,
William and Michele Ackerman, NC, Jane Cornett,
Owego, Jean Cornett, Union Center; also several
with Tioga County DSS and has since retired. She
was a lifelong member of the First Baptist Church
in Owego, NY. Funeral services will be held on
Wednesday, January 25, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at the
Estey, Munroe & Fahey Funeral Home, 15 Park St.,
a.m. prior to the services at the funeral home. In

Denise Marie Robinson,
of Windsor passed away
on Friday, January 13,
2017 surrounded by her
loving family. She was
predeceased by her father,
Dominick P. Marcello
and brother, Patrick
L. Marcello. Denise is
survived by her devoted
husband, Terry and loving mother, Jeanne Marcello.
She had many attentive family members and had a
very special bond with each; aunts, uncles, nieces,
nephews, the extended Robinson family, as well as
many treasured friends. She enjoyed cooking and
trying new recipes and shared with all, especially
her very special mom-in-law, Nancy Brown. As her
heart began to decline she had to find home bound
interests. They included taking care of her beloved
pets, reading, sharing recipes and talking to her
mother several times a day on the phone. Denise
will be truly missed by all who became close to her.
Funeral Services will be held at the J.F. Rice Funeral
Home, 150 Main Street, Johnson City, Friday at
6pm with Rev. Tim Bennett from Main Street Baptist
Church officiating. The family will receive friends at
the funeral home from 4pm until the time of services.

is survived by his loving wife of 57 years Colleen

Woodruff, and Shannon (Chuck) Taylor; 11
grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; brother Dick

(Bob) Disch. He was employed by IBM for 35 years
and after retirement he started his own painting
business. He was very fond of his dogs. Visitation
will be held on Wednesday, January 18th from 4pm

Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday at 10am at St.
Francis of Assisi Church in Hillcrest. Entombment

boater, fisherman, golfer & bowler. He enjoyed his
annual family camping trips to Indian Lake and
weekends waterskiing at Taughannock Falls State
Park.

on the phone, listening to his scanner and visiting
