FSIN Calls for Justice for Colten Boushie with Peaceful Rallies around the Country
(Treaty 6 Territory, Saskatoon, SK) — The Federation of Sovereign Indigenous Nations (FSIN) Executive
stands in solidarity with the family of Colten Boushie. There are several rallies planned across Canada
today in response to the not guilty verdict in the trial of Gerald Stanley and the FSIN encourages people
to attend and show support for the family.

“We call for peaceful gatherings” says FSIN Chief Bobby Cameron. “We are all hurt but retaliation will
not soothe the anger, hurt or the shock. These are deep wounds that we have been subjected to and the
reality of this is now evident to the rest of the world.”

“This is not the first time that Saskatchewan has failed to be a true Treaty partners in upholding peace
and justice. Leo Lachance, Pamela George, Neil Stonechild and so many more of our First Nations people
have received unjust treatment” says FSIN Vice Chief Heather Bear. “The justice system must do better
and we will not rest until we see change.”

"We grieve with the family of Colten today and we send up our prayers that justice will be served, if not
today, then soon” says FSIN Vice Chief Kim Jonathan. “This verdict was unjust and failure to act by
leadership leaves our children vulnerable."

“The mother of Colten attended court every day. The family prayed for justice. To see this outcome is a
slap in the face to the trust that we have placed in our Treaty partners” says Chief Cameron. “From the
jury selection to disinterested prosecution, we saw many failures. We expect that the Ministries of
Justice will hold those responsible accountable for this miscarriage of justice.”

The FSIN represents 74 First Nations in Saskatchewan. The Federation is committed to honouring the
spirit and intent of the Treaties, as well as the promotion, protection and implementation of the Treaty
promises that were made more than a century ago.
