WHAT DOES THE STORY SAY ABOUT HOW SEX IS
JUDGED IN THE PHILIPPINES?
Sex is always linked to gender.
For example, phrases like: “Dress up more like a girl”, “Act
more like a man” determine just how much gender is
defined by what we look like or what we do.
However, the hen in the story is almost androgynous
because of how it acts, but it did not hide the fact that it
still lays eggs like any hen.
IN THE END…
You define what you are.
You can be a strong independent hen that don’t need no
rooster.
Society doesn’t have the right to dictate what you should
be just because of what you look like or how you act.
