FREEDOM PREPARATORY ACADEMY

“Preparing Students to Excel in College and in Life”

“Whose on Your Team”

 The What: “Whose on Your Team” night is an opportunity for the Special
Populations Department at each school to host their own Open House to
discuss with families how they will be supported throughout the school year.
In addition it allows for families to put a face to our names and for genuine
and authentic relationships to be formed.

The Why: “Whose on Your Team” is essential because during this time we can learn
more about our students. For example we can determine with each family what
form of communication will work best in reaching them to share students successes
and to discuss what times and days work best to host IEP meetings. In addition we
can learn what concerns parents already have and how to appropriately provide
support.

The How: At each campus the Special Populations chair will organize to deliver an
info session and meet and greet. It is up to chairpersons to determine what day and
time would work best for their school campus. Elementary mentioned doing a
Saturday morning.

The When: Early September is when this event should take place as it gives us
ample time to know who are babies are and extend and invitation to other service
providers who will support them, as well as ADVERTISE to get the best turnout!!
