mengandung senyawa seperti flavonoid, saponin, terpenoid, tannin, vitamin A dan vitamin
C.
test with control group design.
perlakuan 30 menit setelahnya.
Hasil: Pada hari ke-21 rerata penurunan luas luka bakar setelah diberikan gel ekstrak daun
sirih merah 1% yaitu 7,6 mm, gel ekstrak daun sirih merah 0,25% yaitu 33,7 mm, gel

THE EFFECT OF RED BETEL LEAF GEL EXTRACT (Piper crocatum Ruiz & Pav)
FOR WOUND HEALING OF SECOND DEGREE BURNS IN MALE WHITE RATS
(Rattus norvegicus)
ABSTRACT
Background: Burns are skin problem caused by fire, electricity, and chemicals. Second-
degree burns are the most common type of burn with a 73% percentage. Gel is one type
drug used as a treatment of burns. HPMC is a gel base that is commonly used in the
production of cosmetics and medicines because it is water soluble, clear, and has low
toxicity. Red betel leaf plants can be used for the treatment of burns because the contain
compounds such as flavonoids, saponins, terpenoids, tannins, vitamin A, and vitamin C.
Purpose: The purpose of this study wa to determine the effect of red betel leaf gel extract
(Piper crocatum Ruiz & Pav) and the effective concentration that can accelerate the
healing of second degree burns in male white rats (Rattus norvegicus).
Method: This research is an experimental research with pre and post test control group
design. The study wa conducted by induction of burns on the rats using a metal with a ±
1,50 cm diameter that had been heated first and induced on the back for 5 second, then
given treatment 30 minutes later.
Result: On the 21st day the average area of burns after the gel was given 1% red betel leaf
gel was 7.6 mm, 0.25% red betel leaf gel was 33.7 mm, 0.25% red betel leaf gel was 41 , 6
mm, and HPMC base gel of 130.3 mm. Based on the statistical test, the effect of
concentration and observation time on wound healing with p= 0,000, and 1% p
concentration on the 21st observation is the best treatment with the smallest average value.
Conclusion: Red betel leaf gel extract can accelerate the healing of second degree burns
with 1% concentration with faster healing effect.
