a) promoting water storage and harvesting

b) avoiding surface runoff of water and with it thin, fertile, moisture-holding topsoil.

2. Protecting the vegetative cover for soil conservation against wind and water erosion

by

a)stopping overcultivation, overgrazing, overharvesting of medicinal plants, woodcutting, or mining


activities and

.b)Combining pastoral and cropping land use

4. Reversing desertification by

• establishment of seed banks, restocking of soil organic matter and organisms that promote
higher plant growth, and reintroduction of selected species.

• control of invasive species, chemical and organic nutrient replenishment, and


reforestation.
