ABSTRACT

Iron sands are sedimentary deposits formed due to the reform recast, transport, sorting
and enrichment process. Iron Sand contains many of ferromagnetic minerals such as
magnetite, hematite, limonite, siderite, therefore the magnetic method is the most appropriate
method used to look for the presence of iron sand based on rock magnetism response. The
survey was conducted with 10 line and the length of each line of 300 m with the distance of
each line 150 m. Magnetic field observation data then performed daily variation correction
and IGRF to get the value of the total magnetic field.
At the end obtained TMI Map (Total Magnetic Intensity), RTP Map (Reduce to
Pole), Upward Continuation Map. RTP Map show a high magnetic intensity value about
109.8 nT to 348.4 nT which is interpreted as a extraction zone of iron sands in the past
(Paleo-extraction zone) that is located relative to the north of the map. With the approach of
Fourier analysis obtained depth of iron sand deposits reached 86.10 m. 2.5D and 3D
modelling have been made based on the magnetic maps to describe the subsurface conditions,
modeling of subsurface geological data matched also of regional and local stratigraphy
research.
