Priselda Perez has worked with TRiO Programs serving low income, first generation students for

18 years. She has worked 13 years as Director of the TRIO Upward Bound Program at Galveston
College, and has taught Psychology for about 12 years as an adjunct. She has just completed her
term as President of the Texas Association of Special Student Services Programs and is serving
as Past President and chair of the 2018 professional state conference. She served on the
Southwest Association of Student Special Service Programs Board for two years, chair of the
SWASAP Ethics Committee, served on the State Initiatives Committee, Fair Share Committee,
chair of the TASSSP Legislative Affairs Committee, State Leadership Conference Committee,
Pre-Collegiate and Collegiate Scholarship Committees. She is currently Vice Chair of the Faculty
Professional Development Committee and a coordinator of the Galveston College Lecture
Series for 2017-2018, on the Outreach and Retention Committee, and the ASSET Committee.
Priselda also serves on the Children’s Ministry Board and volunteers at her church every
Sunday. She volunteers at the Ronald McDonald House, with the Alzheimer’s Association Walk,
D’ Feet Breast Cancer Events of Galveston, and Relay for Life Event. She is also a member of the
Rotary of Galveston Island where she represents Galveston College and the TRIO Upward
Bound Program. Priselda assisted in the writing of the last two TRIO Upward Bound grants that
were each funded for a five year period at Galveston College, and works in collaboration with
other departments, GISD, and the community to promote available resources to students. As an
adjunct, she encourages student success through the promotion of various on and off campus
activities that will benefit them in their learning. She encourages the academic and professional
development of college students by hiring them to work with the TRIO program and training
them to serve as leaders in their community. As an alumna of Galveston College, she
encourages individuals in the community to further their education at Galveston College and
informs them of the benefits the college has to offer.
